Can Gunpowder tea cure diabetes?

Recently, a customer visited to specifically purchase Gunpowder tea after viewing a video in which an individual claiming to be a doctor asserted that if you bought her brand of Gunpowder tea it could cure diabetes and lower cholesterol.

It is important to note that credible professionals in both the tea industry and the medical field do not endorse such claims.

While tea may possess certain health benefits and has shown potential for supporting various medical conditions, there is currently insufficient scientific evidence from large-scale studies to conclusively prove that tea can cure anything.

Well, can Gunpowder help with diabetes or not?

An estimated 29.1 million people have diabetes in the United States. This involves the pancreas not functioning to its total capacity, meaning it cannot produce enough insulin to regulate blood glucose levels in the body. With insulin too low and glucose too high, there is an increased risk of complications.

According to a Japanese study, participants who drank six cups of ANY Green Tea appeared to have a 33% lower chance of developing type-2 diabetes. Furthermore, its ability to promote weight loss and increase energy, particularly during exercise, could help as obesity is a leading cause of type-2 diabetes. However, it won’t work miracles; there is no cure for diabetes.

Green tea for weight loss is an excellent choice for at least two reasons. For starters, it has about two calories per serving – making it a good alternative to sugary soft drinks. More importantly, drinking it frequently can have a stimulating effect on your metabolism.

According to a study published in the Journal of Health Science, the abundance of EGCG in Green tea helps boost the metabolism of fat cells. Doing so enables your body to burn fat quicker and more efficiently during exercise. More interesting still is the fact that the research points to it burning calories even while you rest as well.

Does Gunpowder tea have side effects?

There are side effects to drinking any tea. These predominantly come from the caffeine, which, in excessive quantities, can lead to jitteriness and sleeplessness. It can cause nausea, intestinal problems, headaches, migraines and heart palpitations in rare circumstances.

Tea is a food product and like any food affects people in different ways.  I have customers who can drink black tea, but green tea makes them ill.  There are some people who can enjoy all teas but cannot tolerate oolongs.

In Conclusion,

Don’t believe everything you see on the internet!   Remember that a reputable professional will use the terms, "tea may help with an ailment", or "it seems to or appears to help".

Gunpowder is green tea.  All green teas have the same qualities and health benefits.

All tea is good for you until you start loading it up with sweeteners and other ingredients.
